Tourist In Our Own Town

"It was one of those gorgeous fall days with not a cloud in the sky. The kind of day that makes you feel like running off and joining the circus. However, we were off to get groceries. On the way to the market, we saw three tourists looking at a street map. They looked so carefree that we both said how lucky they were to be tourist in our city. Then she said, 'Why not us?' The groceries could certainly wait until that evening. We became tourists for the day. We explored a neighborhood we'd always meant to visit. We found an antique shop that specialized in toys - a wonderful red fire truck, mechanical piggy banks, a fifty-year-old tricycle, trains, and dolls of every size and shape. Down the street was a bookstore that must have had every travel guide ever written. We wandered into a café, got a window table, and indulged in an espresso and Italian pastries while we people watched. Then we moved on. Arm in arm we just strolled through the afternoon.
